Gareth Eaton borrowed this book from me when he was looking for a TWTA for his ESR (Electron Spin Resonance) research. He informed me that they had a new edition out, this was in 1994. P.S. this is one of the few publications available on microwave tubes, that covers the whole range of available devices.

Dr. Gilmour is always updating and expanding the scope of devices covered in this book. Once he has enough updated material, he publishes a new revision. The newer versions seem to be even harder to obtain. From what I can tell, with the number of true microwave tube design engineers and their associated manufacturing base constantly skrinking, his goal is to have this book serve as a educational tool to keep the knowledge base from being lost. Microwave tubes, especially the higher frequency and higher power ones, are not going obsolete any time soon.
It is an excellent resource. I would recommend any version of this book to anyone. Where I work, we drop a copy of this book in front of new personnel.
